There are five main types of hearing aids:
BTEs are the most popular hearing aids on the market today because they are robust, easy-to-use and appropriate for a wide range of hearing loss. They may contain a telecoil, which helps you hear while on the telephone and can connect to FM or audio loops.
BTEs can be a comfortable open-fit (with a tube and tip), or occluding for more severe hearing loss (with an ear hook and ear mold):
✔ Open-fit doesn't plug the ear canal; therefore, making a person's own speech sound more natural. This works best for mild to moderately severe high frequency hearing loss.
✔ Occluding plugs the ear canal and works best for moderately severe to profound hearing loss.
